Overview
imi understands the importance of investing in education. Employees actively engage with local schools by providing academic programming and resources, enriching the educational experience for students and their teachers. Through educational iniatives, the company strives to create an appreciation for the building materials and construction industry and support the communities where we live and work.
Classroom Learning
From the formation of fossils to understanding the different classifications of rocks and minerals, imi provides a curriculum-based approach to educating grade school students on the importance of Earth Science and Geology. From this foundation, students also gain an understanding of how rocks and minerals are mined and used in the construction industry to create concrete, asphalt, and other building materials.
Beyond these building blocks, our goal is to develop an understanding of the importance of safety in construction zones and share how these areas of study translate into real world careers.
Students will receive a hands-on approach to learning about these topics through activities such as making their own concrete, receiving their own Rock Kit with which they can see, touch, and feel the difference between a variety of rocks and minerals, and have a fun, educational virtual presentation to help them gain a better understanding of these important topics.
All of the programming provided by imi is free to teachers and meets state standards in Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky.
